I took my wife up for a ride and as we were about to leave I saw a friend of mine at the airport who was also headed up and we decided to meet up over the coast for a little last minute photo shoot. I wasn't planning on doing this last night and I only had my 18-55mm kit lens with me but I figured what the heck, if nothing else formation flying is fun even without the camera. My wife took some photos and then she took the airplane and gave me the camera. To be honest I don't know who took what but I have to give her credit because she doesn't get out much with the camera and we came away with a few decent shots. I was flying a Citabria 7ECA and my friend was in his Pitts S1E. Thanks.

Nice pictures!! Very dream like. His Pitts S1E is so aerobatic that he can even fly backward! :)
That last one's the best one.

Nice set....the first two look a little soft, but the other 4 make up loads for them :D. Especially like the sunset shot.

Yeah just keeping up with him inverted or not was a challange for me in the Citabria. #4 was one of my favorites as well, you get the ocean, mountains, clouds, sky, and airplane all in one! Thanks all for the encouraging comments.

Thank you. We have made a few formation flights prior to this but never had the chance to take photographs until now. We were trying to set up a flight with him and another friend as pilot with his Extra and myself as camera operator but it fell through.

A nice set of images. The last in the sunset is definately my favourite.. I think if you shot these in the middle of the day, with bright sun on the pitts, and blue skies in the background, they would stand out more and make your images that much more appealing..Perhaps even a polorizing filter. Either way, a great first go.
Cheers

I think if you shot these in the middle of the day, with bright sun on the pitts, You'd get some very harsh shadows. Late light works much better.
Nice series!
