I was chairing a conference today and they had employed a photographer to take pics of the presenters, etc. I noticed he was using a 10D and got chatting with him. Turns out that he was a sound engineer and began to have problems with his hearing and turned to photography as a career. He has lived the past 12 months on beans and cheese! But since January 1st has found his diary has started to fill up and is now booked out a few months ahead.

He was a really nice guy, only had the bare essential equipment and is trying to forge his way as a pro. It was good to hear that he was starting to do well and building up a good client list. I might even have sorted him out a free or very cheap deal on a website.

Moral of the story is, if you want something enough and you keep trying you'll get there in the end.

I told him about this forum and he said he would drop in!

There is a lot to be said about a diet of beans and cheese.

Once an artist, always an artist. It's in his blood I guess.

Beans and cheese, eh? Sounds delicious. I lived on Campbell's split pea w/ham soup as a young man.

I remember a time in my life when money was tight and supper 3 nights running was instant mashed potatoes, corn, bread & butter.

I admire anyone who has to fight hard for what they get and keep on going despite adversity. They value what they have far more than those that get it the easy way.

Many years ago I had to borrow money to buy three rolls of film to do a shoot so I could get paid.

Nice Story. If hes good, he has every chance of success.

He does need to watch his diet as he has a good chance of not just loosing his hearing but also having very high Cholesterol. Tell him to drop the cheese and beans and go over to mackeral and bran crackers (good old fibre and Omega Oil)

And there's always Ramen noodles at $0.08 a pack.

Good for him. I hope it all works out well for him
