They are beautiful. Are they waiting for the snow?
Are they different from a Malamute or Siberian Husky?

Alaskan Klee Kai. Breed is about 25 years old, started by Linda Spurlin (I believe, spelling is probably off), by using.
There are 3 sizes, toy, miniature and standard and range from 5-20 lbs.
Siberian Huskies range from 35-60. I had two sibes (had to put them both down the past 16 months) that lived 13-14 years. Both were taller than normal and each weighed about 75 lbs.
Here's a shot of Sergei and Gunnar (1995).....................

Thanks for the info. It sounds like an interesting breed. A little smaller than the Husky.
I had a Siberian years ago. His name was Demon and to some extent he was. But I sure did love him.

Actually, a LOT smaller than a husky. Think chihuahua and siberian mix ;)

My two are 16-18 lbs and 15-17 inches tall- they are all individuals, which is nice.
Thanks for the compliments!
I can't wait to shoot them in snow with the xsi

Not quite:lol: Most people think Siberians are these huge dogs, when in fact they shouldn't be. Females are around 35-50 lbs so our AKK are around 1/2 that.

Great pictures and interesting breed, I will have to look these up! I love medium sized dogs, but for the size house/yard we have our westie fits our bill nicely, but I am always trying to talk my wife into another dog...

The AKKs we saw in Key West (a couple visiting from Ft. Lauderdale) were 8 lbs. each, more the toy variety.
If yours are about 17 lbs., that's the standard size (largest). Most AKK owners that I've talked to (and several breeders as well, since I was trying to get 2 a few years ago) remarked that the preference among most owners is the "smallest" possible - trying to be as unique as possible.

A lot of times that's true, but breeders like to keep mini's and standards, and sometimes owners are looking for the larger AKK (especially if they have had malamute's or sibes in the past). The Grey and White is the top height of standard, and the black and white is the top height for a mini. But, our two aren't just pets- they are active in sports and such, so I wouldn't know what to do with a toy!
