I purchased a Ixus IIs last September and have noticed that the silver finish on the case is degrading, showing the underlying black colour of the case in a speckled fashion. It seems to be happening most where I hold the camera, so I assume this is a reaction to the deposits my fingers leave on the surface. The camera is kept at all times in a case. Whilst I am very pleased with the cameras performance in the picture department, I am very unhappy with the way the finish on the case is rapidly degrading with what is only light casual use. I have approached Jessops where I purchased it and they firmly told me to take a hike. Anyone else had this issue and is it worth taking up with Canon? I feel a little rushed as it is not as though this is a dirt cheap no name brand.

This is a known issue with this model. Canon will replace the case free of charge and most likely pay shipping. It has to do with a chemical reaction that occurs when the camera is placed in a leather case. The new camera case will be a slightly different color, by the way.
