I was looking at an old album of shots that I took in college over 20 years ago (Michigan State U - Go Spartans!)
I was really into photography then and had an old Pentax MX - fully manual with a 75-300 zoom. I had the camera for about six months, but then damaged it during a trip to Mexico when a bottle of Kahlua broke and splash it - gumming up the works! I never replaced it and have recently just caught the photographic bug again.
Anyway, I took some pics of these old pics with my S1 - hand held, then cropped and processed the images to make them somewhat presentable. Forgive the quality as they are pictures of pictures! (I don't have a scanner!)
Anyway, sorry forn the long winded lead in - these two fellows were brothers from Puerto Rico, surfers - 700 miles from the nearest ocean! They built these ramps and showed us their skills - funny thing was, they had "borrowed" the wood from nearby fraternity houses - they were signs for the Frats! A few angry frat brothers showed up the nest day inquiring who had built the ramps - but Billy and Bobby were no where to be found!

Hahah, neat story, and excellent pictures. I'd like to see some of the modern day sports photogs with a fully manual camera :) Well done.

Thanks Curos,

I had a friend at the time with his own dark room. He had let me develop and print a bunch of B&W shots - 5x7+ in size - that I never would have had the cash to process & enlarge. It was a great learning experience. I actually picked up another fully manual Vivatar 35mm with a smaller (35-70mm) zoom just prior to my honeymoon 12 years ago. I never got back into photography with it like with that old Pentax. The big zoom on the S1 really brings back the feel of the old days and the creative urges! Now I'm hungry for that Dig SLR with a 75-300 to really get back into it!
