Just in case people would like to see what can be done with just a 5D, 24-70mm and a tripod with single images can do. Here is two shots from this week. I sure wish it was not so light polluted here in central Indiana but we all have our crosses to bear.

The first image was taken as nautical twilight was passing overhead. The best way I wave found to beat the light pollution, use a little more light! That does not make sense now does it. I do like Cassiopeia above the silos and Perseus kind of hidden behind them. Camera 5D, ISO 100, TV 732 sec., AV 8.0, Lens 24-70mm @ 25mm, single image with in-camera noise reduction, Bogen tripod.

#1 is really nice. I like the forground stuff.

Great choice of foreground, nice shots.

The thin layer of cirrus clouds like those in your second shot have plagued our skies here for most of the year. Nothing lights up the sky like cirrus. I've seen mag 6 skies go to mag 4 in minutes when they roll in and project/amplify the sky glow from the distant city lights.

#1 is really great, it has that perfect twilight feel to it.

Last night I got a better image of the dance of the planet so I removed one from the fisrt post and am replacing it with this one. And people wonder why I am so dizzy all the time.

Camera 5D, ISO 200, TV 2468 sec. (yes that is 41+minutes of exposure single image), AV 5.0, Lens 24-70mm @ 24mm
