Okay, my bird shots aren't even in the same league with most of the postings in this forum. I've never considered them more than casual photos, so my technique is underdeveloped, to say the least. Nevertheless, I plan to post a series of bird photos from my area, just as examples of what's available.

To begin, what is more "Florida" than Herons and Egrets? At first, I thought the gator was stalking the Great Blue Heron, but he must not have been hungry since he never made a move for it. The heron's eyes followed the gator all the time, even though his head never moved.

The White Egret was after food, as they always are, but I never saw him attack anything.

These were taken at a city park near me that is basically a wildlife sanctuary. No cages or fences, so animals can come or go as they please. My first visit, primarily because my grand-daughters wanted to see an alligator.

Those are 'Exotic' birds to me . . . what one has as common is anothers dream. I'll trade you two elk and eight deer for them.

The egret looks great. You'll be over on the SLR forum asking what 400mm lens should I get?

Wow. Great combo shot. Gator and heron in #1.

My sister lives in Bradenton. Next time I go visit her I'll have to ask you advice on good places to go find some of these critters.

Thanks, everyone. I do have a few more to post as I get time.

James, I'll be happy to share what info I have, there are plenty of birds and mammals close to Bradenton.
