Alright...I have a dinosaur when it comes to Digital cameras these days...but my Dino runs. :)
I'm wondering what the fastest memory card available for my D30 is. I don’t want to out the money for a real fast card that has the D30 cant even make use of. Could I actual buy a card that was faster than the camera could even handle? Can that even happen? Are all CF's these days compatible with this older camera? (funny how a 4 year old camera is OLD) Its been a while since the D30 was in its prime. What has changed since then?

Here is Rob G's page on it:

Seems to have stoped testing on it though. Doesn't look like it it worth buying the fastest card on the block unless you plan to upgrade.
What changed in four years - in regards to the EOS DLSR - Everything ;)
Funny though, a four year old SLR will still holds it own quite nicely, I think it is a case of new technology etc.
Oh well it is my intention to still be sitting here with my 20D in four years time!

A coworker of mine has a D30 I love the thing. We even have a D60 at work that I also love. I'd say go ahead and get the fastest card you can find, reason being--download to the PC from the card reader.
I use a Sandisk 1gig Ultra II, that card should be plenty fast for you.
I don't think the Canon's can make full use of the Lexar WA technology but if you can find a fast one for cheap, go ahead.
Else I'm sure any good name card will run fine in your machine, but "fast" cards are relatively cheap in price might as well pay a few bucks more for the transfer to PC speed.
I think the Rob Galbrith site has posted speeds and cards for your DSLR too.

Keep the D30's alive. I have several 12x CF cards and my D30 writes to them perfectly. They are only 2556 MB, but you get 80+ pictures in RAW and over 180 Large Jpeg. I will keep my D30 around until I can afford a newer 20D.
