Ok, I just got my new G2 and S9000 (and P4 with Windows XP). Things are really fun in my little office these days!

Can you tell me what is the easiest (or best) way to make picture on picture images? (smaller photos inset on a larger photo). I tried to do this using the software that came with my equipment but haven't been to sucessfull yet. It would be nice if I could drag and drop art also.

If you have any recommendations please let me know.

thanks!

The Canon print utility is great for very simple output prints and handles the borderless abilities of the s9000 nicely.

I use ThumbsPlus by Cerious Software ( http://www.cerious.com )for more demanding layouts as it has the ability to print various combinations of numbers of images per page. It will also allow you to print from various different graphics file formats, including Canon RAW.

For really complex, image on image, image in box in image layouts (that I frankly seldom do) I use Photoshop.

I assume you got Photoshop LE with your G2, in which case you can use that to put images on top of images. It takes a little while to get to grips with Photoshop, but note that there is a full user guide in Acrobat format on the CD. In brief: open both your image files and then use the move tool to drag the image from one window into the other window. This will give you two layers that can be edited independently (Window->Show Layers to display the layers palette and click on a layer to make it the active one). Click on the eyes to switch layers on and off. You can resize the image on top by making a selection with the rectangular marquee, and then use Edit->Transform->Scale. If you drag a corner of the selection box while holding down the shift key, the aspect ratio will be maintained. Press enter to complete the resize and ctrl/d to deselect. Finally, merge the layers with Layer->Flatten Image.

Thanks guys. I've just been playing with layers and now seem to be able to do what I want. There is plenty to learn!
