Michigan photography

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the perfect place to ask this, but i'm looking for good scenary :cool:in michigan to take pictures of, waterfalls, good rapids/streams, you know the good stuff, i'm located in metro detroit area, and i've hit up pretty much everything around here, i'm looking for something a little more of a higher pedigree, thanx in advance

Go to Oscoda. The Au Sable river snakes thru town. Lots of good pictures from the high banks. Also Foote Dam is in Oscoda. Take River Road down about 8 miles and you will see the lumbermans monument. Good photo ops there
I have the same problem you do. I live in Saginaw and I pretty much took all the pictures I need here. I would say Oscoda would be the place to go.

I'm in the Rochester area and spend a lot of time in the Metro Park system.
Lake Erie Metropark, just south of Gibraltar, has a great birds of prey show

Pick up a copy of the DeLorme Atlas for Michigan. It will show you lots of places you have probably already driven by. Usually about $20 from Amazon. It shows public vs private land and will show public lands like refuges, parks, production areas, etc. You may be surprised how many little gems are tucked in all over this country.

I agree, I have had one for years. Great investment.

Head into the thumb. Stop by a little town called Kilmanagh in Huron County. They have an old general store built in the 19th century which is in a sad state of disrepair that could be nice to shoot on cloudy days. Then keep on going up to Caseville and round the thumb to Port Austin. Farm country can be gorgeous if done right.

One of my new fav places to shoot is the west side of the state--- lots of great stuff out there.
You could always drive up to Kensington Metro Park-- some nice scenery there to shoot. But no real waterfalls that I know about. http://www.metroparks.com/parks/pk_kensington.php

I'm from Leelanau county, which has fantastic fall photo opportunities. You have Sleeping Bear lakeshore, Lake Michigan, Grand Traverse Bay and many lakes. Great restruants as well. Good luck in your search.

I live 10 minutes from erie metro park, it's very......boring? there is a lot of birds though, i heard sometimes owls?

I have shot south west Michigan to death. But never wet over to the south east side. Well other than for the auto show.
