This is an Idea I had several days ago and finally tried to make it yesterday evening.

It's one of my first experimental shots, it hasn't come out technically as I would have liked.

I would be happy if you people could comment on it and make any suggestions how to make it better (composition, technique, etc)

Shot setup :
20D with 18-55 kit lens
tripod
black cloth on the table, 2-Euro coin standing still on the cloth (in fact fixed with a piece of scotch-tape), 1-Euro coin rolling from left to right, Path of 1-Euro coin lightened by a maglite.
The most difficult was the rolling of the coin, because of the texture of the cloth which didn't permit a nice trajectory.
Exposure time was 1 second with flash (internal) on second curtain, aperture f/5.6.

This shot is the best out of about 40, the coins are unfortunately a bit OOF and I had to press the shutter button by hand as my remote hasn't arrived yet.

There has been no post-processing (except resizing). Everything was in the shot, no digital effects added...

The big one doesnt look like it is rolling and you can see the tape sticking out of the back. The small one sort of looks like it is rolling but only because you told me so.

Could you use the cameras countdown timer to open the shutter, then you don't have to hold the camera.

I think the idea is interesting, but I am not quite sure what the 'perfect' image from it would be.

The big one shouldn't be rolling anyway and I saw the piece of tape once I viewed the picture on the computer screen...

The golden smear on the left should give the impression of rolling.

The countdown timer isn't precise enough. I have to press the shutter once I get the coin rolling... Next time I'll try with the remote... it's finally arrived.

As for the perfect image, I don't see it either  I just had the idea, but this was the best I could think of. That's why experimental...
