...but I just learned how to do it. I did no color enhancing to her eyes other than erase the BW layer over her eyes. What do you think?

Yup ... IMHO way overdone. Other than that it's precious.

it might not look so overdone if the bw component was done with a higher contrast... more shadow to offset the highlights...

To be honest.. I can hardly tell the difference. Its probably just my POS monitor.
I would have darkened all the shaded area in the top left of the photo along with the increased contrast. But then again... my black and whites haven't been turning out that good lately anyway, so maybe its best not to listen to my suggestions :p

No disrespect, but I find the supervast majority of B&W images that contain a color detail corny, pop, pushy and screaming for attention and I prefer to discover what draws most of my attention myself... :)
Either leave it in color or turn it to B&W is what I think.

What karusel said. She's a precious child and you have a really nice capture. Please show us what it looks like in color :( .

Thanks.... I guess. I like the look, but then again I asked for opinions. While I disagree with the POP, trendy or whatever was said statement, I was more looking for opinions of the quality of the pic and should have asked for that. I guess when you post here you should be more specific..... Here she is in color.

Its art. So make it whatever you want it to be, something that has meaning to you. Its always going to appeal to some people and not to others.
Eye of the beholder and all that crap....

I tend to agree, apart from the art statement, since I'm of the school that considers photography more technical than artistic (for the most part).
I'm not too keen on selective desaturation, like car chases it has been done to death.
However I think your last desaturated image (minus the blue eyes) is very good.

Read through comments...looked at all the pics. I like the first image you posted the best...in fact I think it is really nice.

Very cute little girl and I liked all the pictures the eyes really did it for me and no matter what you do to the color they still just greab me. Great Job and just remeber that the only person you have to impress is yourself.
