This has happend twice now I shot pictures at my sons wrestling meets and take anywhere around the 300 mark for pictures. When I get home and dowonload them to the computer it starts in the middle of the meet and the first picture that I took is in the middle of the so the pictures start in the middle of the meet do to the end of the meet then start at the beginning and got to the middle. hope this isn't to confusing could put it into numbers kinda like this will number them in order of shooting but this is how they end up on puter... 3,4,1,2. Can anybody who understands this tell me why my Camera and or computer is not leaving them in the order I shoot them. Thanks

How are you downloading them. I have noticed that this happens when I use my card reader, and I have to go into the (lets say) 153 folder to get some pictures then into the 154 for the rest. This is not a problem with my card, rather where I am dragging and dropping the files, if I drag the 154 pictures in on top of the 153, it puts them there. All I do is go to the view menu, arrange icons by, then name. It puts them in the right order then.

I am not sure if the same happens when you use the camera, because I don't downloaded directly from it.

Sorry if this is too obvious, but are you sorting your files by filename in your pc?
I couldn't understand from your post if the filenames for the pictures are named correctly or not.

Also, how are you transfering the pictures from the camera to your pc?

I use a card reader and all the files get named the same thing and are all downloaded at the same time useing microsoft transfer wizard It has only happened twice and have not looked on the camera to see if they are in order before I transfer them. they are all names RMS Vs Byron ### and they are numbered right it is the first picture ends up with number 145.

Have you tried refreshing the folder where you have your pictures after transfering them? Usually this is done by pressing F5, or by hitting the right mouse button and choosing 'refresh'.

If this is what I'm thinking it is, this behaviour is by design, and I hate it as well ;)

Must be a problem with your software because 300 pictures will be in 3 separate folders. And depending on which folder teh software processes first, you can get pictures downloaded out of order.

Thanks for the input. It has happened twice out of about 30 times I have taken that many photo's I do everything the same each time I have a Kingston 1024MB card and it just seems funny that it has done it only twice. will check the camera next time and see if they are in order before I transfer them or if it is my puter that messing up the order.

The MS Transfer Assistant is responsible for that. Use the Canon utilities instead.
