My Viewsonic monitor died a week ago (yay!) and I am considering the Samsung XL20 as a replacement monitor since it is supposedly an "almost" professional monitor ... I really wanted something like an Eizo or LaCie or even a Samsung XL24, but they are all way outside of my budget.
Does anyone have experience with this monitor or its larger siblings, the XL24 or XL30? Are there any show stoppers?
The PROS are that it has a 114% NTSC color gamut that give it about a 95% AdobeRGB coverage (I am not quite sure how they determined the numbers since the three color spaces are somewhat skewed from each other and I suspect that the 114% does not represent the intersection of the two spaces. It also includes a Huey calibrator. About the only CONS that I am currently aware of are the Pantone Huey Calibrator which I believe is a densitometer and not a true colorimeter and the wimpy on-screen set up menu that seems to be about the same as most general purpose monitors. Those do not seem to be show stoppers. I would have preferred the EyeOne Display II calibrator.
Right now, I am using my old Samsung SyncMaster 900NF monitor which is an outstanding flat screen CRT ... I love it, but it is 19 inches and such a huge heavy box that my office desk can't hold it with the hutch installed.
