Sort order bug?

I'm having a problem getting the author sort order to stick for an exhibition. For example, look at the arrangement of the thumbs on this exhibition browser page and then at the order of the microthumbs on any one of the image pages:

I've preset author sort order but it only shows correctly with the microthumbs. The order of the thumbs on the exhibition browser page is not correct and I don't know how to change it.

If author's sort order numbering has overlappings the results come from input order. But there is indeed a couple of bugs there which I have now found fixed, and I'd appreviate if you'd mail me a dump (no photo files needed) of your database as itis now so I can test fixes directly on it. I'm sorry I can't send you fixed files yet to test as they contain plety of code for translation data relying on translation database and some files which are not fully finished - if you'd install those files on your system you'd get nothing but error messages as most components would be missing.
