Had this single image and was not happy with the way it looked.
Since it started to rain and my gear is not waterproof, I had no time for auto bracketting.
Just for the fun of it I tried tone mapping it to see how it worked.
I tried the software called Dynamic-PhotoHDR and it was excellent to work with so I will recommend it.
Here is the webpage: http://www.mediachance.com/hdri/index.html

So here is the original and then the pseudo-HDR

Still very dark. Here's one I tried from your original in Photomatix. It brightened it up a lot, but maybe at the cost of reality. :)

Yes it is too dark. Wish I had some time to do bracketing. And now with demands for 9 or more exposures it will take some time :)
At least the clouds looks cool. Have to wait for some better weather.
I really want to get a shot when they spread their wing to dry their feathers. That will make a good silhouette.

Cormorants have the hook, Anhingas the needle beak. :)

I have no clue what you are talking about...
I just used wikipedia with the Norwegian name and then it came up with the latin ;)

We have the same birds here. These are Cormorants (http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Double-crested_Cormorant.html), because they have the hooked beak. Anhingas (http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Anhinga.html) look almost identical, but have a needle point beak, no hook. Both birds are worldwide I think. :)

ok...so lets take the clouds and background from the Dynamic-HDR version and the foreground from the PM version and then merge them together... :)
it surely will look like a painting...
I like Mitch's version for foreground and the shooter version for the background..

thanks guys for sharing your versions...
