I'm a few years out from those days..okay, lots and lots of years but I don't remember fields like this, unis this nice, or kids this size. Either way, it was fun shooting these guys, hope you like the images. Lighting was VERY flat so settings didn't change much. Obviously a little when I added the TC for the second half but otherwise, most of the game was within 1/3 of a stop or so.

Scott,
Nice. I'm with you on the changing of the times. Our 3rd Through 6th have an indoor facility to use. Very clean photos. I like #6. The black rubber flying is the new sloppy mud.
Regards,
John.

Looks like a mini college football team... 5th and 6th graders are brutal! haha! Great captures! ;)

Thanks guys. It's amazing to see these kids play. I coached the 5/6 grade program for a few years and even in the several since I have been away, things have changed. By the time they are in college, a 6-4, 265lb tailback that runs a 4.3 forty is probably going to be average.

Nice job, Scott. Those are some big kids. I'd have to slap someone for allowing both teams to wear white jerseys though.

Thanks Kevin and Brik...yeah, what is up with that anyway? Not terrible for the shooter but I have no idea how those kids kept things sorted out.

Pretty much perfect Scott! Amazing how well the 300 accepts the 1.4 TC. How far downfield were you setting up @420. I'm going to try the 1.4 this week at the day football games. Great work.

Thanks Sean and Dan. Dan, the 5, 6, 7 images all had the athlete right at midfield. I was on the sideline about 10' deep and right around the 20. Fortunately, the sidelines weren't crowded for the "little" guys so you didn't get blocked as you moved back a bit. The last one was from the endzone, 15-20' behind the goal line and I believe they were around the 15 or so when I took that.

Thanks Bobby and Don. I shgould probably come clean here and let you all in on a workflow change I made with this group. It makes no rational sense to me but for some reason, I decided to use both PS and DPP to edit. I opened the images in PS, cropped and straightened as needed and tweaked a curve here and there but I did all my sharpening using the blunt DPP tool and frankly, I think it produced a cleaner image. Normally, I would sharpen by adding a soft light layer and a high pass filter, then a usm pass. That takes a little time and I was feeling lazy so I just ran em through DPP as a batch to sharpen and I like the results better. As a bonus, I saved a ton of time.

I'm jealous...field turf (painted, of course), Nike jerseys, nice shiny helmets, matching Under Armour socks, heck, they even have the good chinstraps. My high school played in the mud wearing 5-year-old Russel jerseys, and that was only four years ago!
Oh yeah, nice job on the photos too!

Ed, Cory, Kevin....thanks guys, really appreciate it. They really are outfitted as almost any collegiate team. It's nuts. They even had a guy up in the booth with a headset helping with play calling for the coaches! Nuts!
