Hi everyone,

Lately I've been struggling with... well nearly everything!
I would really love some cc on these photos. I'm just trying to get a really good handle on the basics like exposure, wb, focus and then of course the pp.
These are just some random ones from lately. None of them are my own family (not that it means anything, other than the fact that I'm trying to work beyond just the cuteness of the child/baby) ;)

if you think these have problems (I don't...) would you link to what you WISH your shots looked like?

these are really quite good, but there's always more than can be done with setup and creative lighting.

hard to CC when they are absolutely perfect!

The only CC I can find is that you should be posting more often:D

5, 6 and 7 look spot on as far as exposure. The faces in the rest seem ever so slightly over exposed, but not a lot. There are just a few hot spots that could be brought down eeeeeeeever so slightly.

#2 the eyes seem just a smidge over sharpened to me...but I really like the posing and composition of nearly all your shots....and I like how vibrant the colors are, too.

Really nice job!

Thanks so much for your comment. It's not so much that I think these ones have problems...I'm just making sure - and also wishing I could be more consistent with things.
Not that I want my work to look like anyone else's, but here are a few links to photograpahers who inspire me for the quality of their work:

Thank you - I agree, they were little cuties. I don't think I could ever tire of photographing children!

Some better then others, but overall NICE!

Thanks- I wonder which ones?

Thanks so much for the comments. I do see what you mean about the exposure. I like the bright faces- I just have to learn not to over-do it.
I think the exposure may have been better before the pp.

As for the eyes, I only sharpened a little, but she has those kind of eyes that are so light and the image was pretty sharp already. I could tone it down a bit.

Thanks so much!

Thank you so much.

I start in LR and usually adjust exposure/blacks/wb, then in CS3 I usually do some kind of curves adjustment (sorry, it's always different), and then usually high pass sharpening at the end. Oh, and I often do some saturation adjustment using layer masks. Then when I save for web, I sharpen again, which I think is why some might look over-sharpened.
I think that's all I did for these ones.

I'm still learning PS, so what I do is largely experimental!:) I think that's why I'm uncertain of how things look. The last batch I posted I thought they looked fine, and then a few people pointed out my wb was off. Of course after it was mentioned, it was all I could see, and had no idea how I missed it!

Thank you! And of course I don't mind sharing. I have a 5D and my 24-70L was used for all these shots. I've had a few bodies and many lenses, but this is my favorite combo. Natural light.
