Ok if I purchase another 430 ex speed light flash and set to slave and then set the other one to slave as well and then buy a a flash wireless transmitter would that work pretty well for a studio and product type setup?

Very cool.

Now with the shoes that came with the flash I can set the flash off to the side or any where I want it?
By the way nice photo's.

anywhere you want it, within range.
honestly, it depends on what you're going to use it for. if you're going to be using it for events, i'd say get pocketwizard plus2's. if you're going to do it for like model shoots, product shoots, anything that allows you to stay in a reasonable range i would go with the st-e2.

BUT!!!! if you have the money, just get the pw's or cybersyncs.
they're both great, and don't rely on infrared.

kind of pricey, but DEFINITELY worth it. they have the best range and reliability

never had experience with these, but have been told they are pretty good as well.

gsr x civic, Alienbee stuff looks like the type of transmitter I'm looking for.

because I want to stay around $500 - $575 for another 430 ex speed lite flash, the 1 transmitter, ONE BIG BOX, a roll of essal paper "white" and one bunch of fake grass for product shots.

That's the basic studio I'm going "like to shoot action figures and misc stuff"

can the ST-E2 transmitter work for more than one flash?I'm not sure but from my understanding it can work 2 flashes as long as you put them both on slave mode.

so both questions?

ST-E2 and PW's can control two flashes? From my very first question I've asked if the transmitter will control 2 430 ex flashes if you set both flashes on slave and no one said no, So I'm guessing its a go.

It will control multiples of slave units. As long as they can see the command flash.

1. It's one per flash plus another as the transmiiter. Although fewer PWs can be used in hybrid situations, there can be problems with synchronising.

2. The ST-E2 can trigger as many Canon flashes in Slave mode as you wish. They can be in two flash group and controlled by a ratio, and a third group can be triggered for eg hairlights. ETTL communications can be unreliable outside, and careful positioning of the slaves is required.
