There seems to be a lot of discussion about printers latley. How about a poll? From what I have seen the five printers listed are in the $400 - $600 range and "desktop" size. Which one would you pick from the list if #1 - you are printing sizes from 4x6 - 8x12, #2 - you want to use a variety of papers (not just one brand), #3 - you might be printing as many as 20 large size prints a week & #4 - the area where you live does not have any ink or paper so you sill have th have everything shipped.
1- Canon I9900
2 - Epson 2200
3 - Kodak 1400
4 - HP 9650
5 - EpsonR1800

You know I voted for the 2200 - but the i9900 is worthy of comparison. Also looks like the 2200 is going to be replaced soon

I go with the Canon i9900 all the way. Unless another company makes a breakthrough that catches my attention, i will never stray from the 8 ink tanks, its much better quality then the cloest lab (Walmart lol).

The R1800 is the new, wide format version of the R800, which is an excellent printer. I now have an older Epson printer (Epson Stylus Photo 950 - but the model number may be different in other places in the world), but the R1800 definitely looks interesting to upgrade to.

I Voted for the i9900 but if the largest I wanted to print was 8 x 12 then I'd save some money, buy a Pixma 8500 (which I did:)) and print borderless 8.5 x 11. 8 inks, wicked fast and a great driver.
