The name doesn't ring a bell, but then again, the kids have taken over the TV lately...We get our fair share of BBC shows, for example on our public broadcast channel (PBS), at least in the Chicago market, we had the Vicar, Fawlty Towers, Are you Being Served, etc. (as well as Dr. Who, The Prisoner, Monty, etc. in the earlier years).
We also get "BBC America" on cable/satellite TV, which is where I get my Top Gear, Graham Norton, Dr. Who, and Torchwood fixes...

The Moholoholo folks are really great, and rehabilitate animals that have been caught in snares, poisoned, or shot (typically by farmers, but sometimes poachers.) Quite a sad video Here (http://www.youtube.com/AnimalRehab)

My wife petting a white rhino at the Moholoholo Animal Rehab Center. The baby was abandoned by it's mother, but when it reaches maturity - it will be released into the wild again.

Lets not let this go political.

The video was funny, and it is a shame that the ppl could not articulate what they were there for. But I bet I could do a video of the same during one of the many protests anywhere. Or maybe just go out on the street and ask some simple questions.

I just discovered a new Google image search feature...it's called "similar images".

That is interesting, but I can't imagine it has much to do with the image itself, maybe only the tags? Not unless they are using something like a face-recognition algorithm, that looks specifically at the pixels, brightness, saturation, and similar alignment across a spectrum.

I clicked on the Striped cat in the upper left hand corner using the similar images, and it gives me a few cat pictures that "sort of" look the same, but not really:Tabby Cat (http://similar-images.googlelabs.com/images?q=cat&qtype=similar&tbnid=0gJ8heloXzEZ3M&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcat%26hl%3Den&tprev=/images%3Fq%3Dcat%26hl%3Den)

Here you go Roy : Google Similar Images (http://similar-images.googlelabs.com/).

Type anything you want into the search box, pick an image, then click the "similar images" link below that picture.

Just google search "google labs" then I think you'll see the link for "similar images" it was the second application down on my list.

EDIT: Thanks Chris, you beat me too it. (and even provided the link!)

Thank you both!

Nope

That is interesting, but I can't imagine it has much to do with the image itself, maybe only the tags? Not unless they are using something like a face-recognition algorithm, that looks specifically at the pixels, brightness, saturation, and similar alignment across a spectrum.

from Google (http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/04/hard-at-play-in-google-labs-with.html)

appears like they use dominant colors. For example when I searched Manhattan, and clicked similar images under a daytime skyline, the results were very similar daytime skylines.

Agreed. For now I think we're safe though. I typed in a search phrase based on the image I posted before, and didn't really find anything similar (though one sign would have given away the answer).

The kiss of death for this game will be any sort of copy & paste feature that Google might implement in the future (which wouldn't surprise me). In other words, right click on any image on the net, copy - then go to some sort of Google Similar Images gizmo, and hit paste. I suspect it will simply be a matter of time.

I don't recall any penguins at Table Mountain, so I'll guess Boulders Beach ?

Table Mountain is high on my wish list!

I'll leave it open to the first taker.

Ah, nevermind...it appears that "Table Mountain National Park" also includes the southern Cape ...

It is Boulders Beach - but officially the park is called "Table Mountain National Park - Boulders", so I thought Monty was close enough.
