Today, I took some photos of the Kyoto Climate March in London. I used a couple of lenses with My Canon 20D, namely the 24-7- L USM f2.8 and the 70-200 L USM f2.8 IS which I hired for the weekend.

I'd be interested to hear your feedback.

Cool shot! However, it looks to be over-processed on my screen. Either too much sharpness or brightness/contrast. Something doesn't look quite right with it.

I know sometimes it's impossible to do so with a moment presenting itself, but the background a bit distracting in this shot. A little additional blur on the background would help.

Like the gallery too. Have to laugh at #IMG_9445.jpg where the protestor against climate change or whatever tree they're hugging is smoking a cigarette.

Thanks for the feedback. I will take the processing comment into consideration for next time. Maybe the high contrast presentation highlighted the background too much.

hmm... smoking doesn't consume fossile energy, tobacco is growing energy, that means, burning it gives back as much CO2 as it needed to grow. It's not as if you would be burning 1 cm3 of petrol... It fact it's renewable energy.
That said, I'm against smoking because of the smell and of the diseases it causes...

Anyway ... great pics...

You captured some nice moments from the shots on your site, however, the one you posted didn't reflect anything to show viewers what's going on, where, when, who and how, it's just personal preference when it comes to reportage shots.

I like the colour and framing though :)

Thanks sGu and yes you are correct the single photo I uploaded was only one of many. I am sure that other people would have their own favourites from the gallery and if they look they will see the bigger picture, possibly a story. Which one would you have chosen as a front door to the gallery?

I actually quite like the one of the child against a backdrop of flags

and also, the man running with the umbrella. I was chasing him with my zoom (though this doesn't say much about the protest apart from it was raining).

this one amuses me of the cold bored policeman with the flags waving in the background.

Having looked closely at the picture it doesn't look like she is smoking a normal cigarrette!

If I have to make a choice, I would go with the first one in the gallery, however, protesters' expression didn't show any anger or upset which is a downside, IMHO. But everything in the frame pretty much told the story on its own.

Yes... i noticed before... it surely is homegrown, handmade...
So it even polluted the environment less because it needed no factory consuming lots of energy to make it

If that's pot she's smoking, she sure does use some strange brand of rolling papers.

Looks like a clove cigarette, possibly a Djarum.

Sorry raztazor, I forgot to comment on the photos: I love the shots of the law enforcement.
