I have a shoot for a new hot spot in town coming up.
While I have never shot the interior of a restaurant for commercial purposes, I don't see this as a tough project.
Please correct me if I am wrong on any of these points
1. No lighting required as the nighttime ambient best represent the restaurant's atmosphere.
2. Not much time involved.
3. TRIPOD!!:lol::lol:
anyone ever done a shoot for a restaurant?

You could be exactly right, or you could not be more wrong. You will only know once you arrive. I would suggest eating there for dinner before you do the shoot. Get the feel they want you so show. This will help you when you shoot, as you are not simply recording what the restaurant looks like. You are capturing its feel as well.
as to your points....
1 not necessarily, Ambient can be very nice, but you may need to fill in some shadows. .Also lights are not always positioned in the right spot. Our eyes can adjust but the camera will enhance anything that it off. A bit of fill can go a long way to help.
2. It could be quick, it could take all night. It all depends on what you have for #1. And what you have to help/correct any problems.
3. well.... obviously :)

I've eaten there at their opening party. It's pretty well lit and I think the few area's of shadow add a little sexy too the feel of the shot...no?

Again your eye is seeing stuff differently than the camera will capture it. While you may see into the shadows and find detail, the camera may only see black.

Very true...
I'll bring my strobes, and other lighting junk...But I think a 1ds with a 14mm 2.8, tripod mounted, stopped down and a long exposure should do the trick...

I do as well. But It is better to bring it and not use it, than need it and leave it behind.
