Hi All,

I've upgraded to Widows Vista Ultimate, from Windows XP.
So, today I thought of working on my RAW files to generate some HDR images.
After saving the files in .TIFF using the RAW plug-in, I tried to open the images in Photomatix Pro 3.0, and thats when my issues started...when I click on BROWSE to browse for the images, there is no box to select the images....ok...so I dragged the imags into the box... worked on the images for 10-15 mins and when satisfied with the result thought of saving my work....ofcourse I have to...
BUT, when I click on "save as", this damn machine shows me an hourglass and then NOTHING...doesn't give me the box to save the file.

I thought may be there are some changes with Vista, so I thought of closing the image by clicking on the red X, Photomatix asks me whether I want to save the file....phew...atlast I thought....happily I clicked on YES...and then...

GONE...nothing....the image closed....all my work gone without saving anything...

I tried many times with the same result, so I thought...lets try with Dynamic HDR....even this software doesn't give me the box to browse for the file...again dragged the files, worked on them...again the same result, when I click on save....nothing...simply nothing...

This is very frustrating....

Is anyone facing such kind of problems, and if you know the solution then Please let me know.

Thanks

Avi

Vista is known for this. I've worked now on about 100 Vista machines and had this happen about 1 in 10 machines at one point or another. Usually a reboot will cure the problem. The problem usually resides with Vista's Aero either corrupting menus or incompatibility with something running. If a reboot doesn't cure it then try reinstalling the offending programs/plugins & check to see if they are Vista compatible. To test this theory you could right click the application, properties, comparability then pick "Disable desktop composition". If it works then, it's Aero. Also make sure you are up to date... Beware of Service Pack 1 though - I've had issues with it breaking some older programs (though no issues with newer ones). SP1 also may take a couple of tries to get installed.

People have come to me with problems like this that were running illegal copies of Photoshop too.
