It has the latest firmware and Canon Irvine confirmed the Serial # should mean it's good right from the factory.

Guess I'll be on the phone with Canoga in the morning...hope they can make this right before the weekend.

I finally found my monitor adapter and I'm now using my parents 19inch monitor as my second screen. so much better editing photos on but the colors I'm not so sure with yet cause it's not calibrated...

Hatch mentioned the same thing about the tires. I actually burned them quite a bit, because on my 26" monitor with its 10 bit LUT, the tires were grey. On my monitor, I can still see the tread, and read the writing on the sides of the tires. Plenty of detail for me.

It also helps to view it in a color managed app like firefox. I can't believe how much detail I get in firefox over IE. That is with the file saved as SRGB too.

Honestly, I have no idea where. I've not been to Luke before and I have no idea where we enter or even where I'm gonna park at this point. I think they run shuttle bus service from somewhere but I'll have to go dig for that info.

was going to get a 2.0 if amazon had one but cant find one that says next day, ritz only has tamreon, might see if they have one in stock and pick it up. I also checked craigslist with no luck

Ok i justr picked up the camera (canon 40D) last night and he gave me the Canon 50mm that has no zoom and from what i have read is a standard as it gets. I have been looking at lenses on amazon Canon vs. Sigma and im wondering if the difference in quality between the two is worth the price difference. And im looking to purchase a lens that can be very diverse and i can use the MOST ( i know that vague, But i want to be able to use this camera for everything until i start photographing things specifically). any help would be great.

It also helps to view it in a color managed app like firefox. I can't believe how much detail I get in firefox over IE. That is with the file saved as SRGB too.

Ryan, KEH.com has a good selection of used gear at decent prices. Their conditions are notoriously conservative, so no need to buy LN or EX. ... BGN is functional and affordable. Last time I was in Photomark I thought they has a few used TCs in stock.

Not sure what your budget is, but the Canon EF 28-135 IS. about $400 (I've not used that lens so you might want to google it for reviews) at BHPhoto if this is too much zoom then the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 DC is a nice lens that I've used. Another option would be to go to either PhotoMark or Tempe Camera and talk with the staff about your needs. I've had very good results from both stores. Each lens manufacturer have some really good consumer priced lenses and some not so very good lenses. If you really want some versatility then get the Canon 24-70 f2.8 L and the Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS L, these will give you a lot of flexibility but at a very hefty cost (well worth the money in my opinion).

I need help have an airshow here on base this weekend and cant get sharp pictures and not sure what i'm doing wrong...shots were panned here is an example of what i'm getting every time. Its a 70-200f4L with an 2x extender (even without extender not getting sharp images when doing aircraft....shoot launches at a track and they are perfect). I'm not sure whats wrong need a crash course quick. Is my shutter not fast enough etc. Would bumping the appature up 1.0 help increase sharpness? I org thought the problem was shutter wasnt fast enough thats why they had a blur

Kenko teleplus 2x c-af teleconverter. Only one I could find in town. Not sure was actually at 200mm plus the 2x

The Canon 2xTC on just about every lens below the 300 F/2.8 performs very poor IMO. You would be better off losing a little reach/magnification by using the Canon 1.4x TC.

Looking at the shutter speed... more than fast enough. Did you have the camera set to AI Servo? This will help keep the plane or moving objects in focus while you pan your shot.

Focal Length: 275 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: -33/100 EV
Flash: Flash did not fire

This was with the 100-400.... just wanted to show that 1/1000th a sec is plenty to freeze the action... and it was shot with a slow lens... AI Servo to track the movement.


Not to volunteer Jay.... but... if you do run in to him at the show... he is the guy you want to talk with about aviation photography. Stellar work! He might have some tips for you :D

Nice shots Jeremy. A suggestion... take it as you may.... I think the text is a nice addition but... I would fade the opacity .... as it looks to be drawing attention to it... and the couple is not the focal point...

FWIW...

My plan for Saturday is to try for the "A" Lot as shown in the PDF that Jeremy posted. I figure I-10 west to Litchfield and go north.

I may regret it by the end of the day but I'd much prefer to walk in in the morning than ride the buses from the "B" Lot.

I'll have a bright red Red Wings T-Shirt on under my Domke vest and will be wearing my usual Kahki-colored floppy hat. Just look for the guy with the Saturn V Rocket hanging off one shoulder.
