what semi-hard, compact camera case do you recommend for the 20d, since I have read on reviews that the one specifically made for the 20d doesnt fit it when the 17-85mm kit lense is attached? Is that even true?
Thanks!

You're going to go out with just one lens and you want to put it in a case? Heresy! Actually, I don't think the "semi-hard" (leather or leather-looking plastic) will cut it. Tamrac and Lowepro make "tele-zoom" camera cases which will take a body with lens and a spare card/battery/filter. They're padded Cordura or nylon canvas. Take your camera to your local good camera store and try them on until you find one that fits right.

I have an old D60 camera, which is about the same size, but I use a somewhat larger lens. For several years now I have used a product made by SunDog. (http://www.sundog.com)

They have something called an Action Telezoom case, and mine came with a harness. I can use the chest harness, which goes around my back, or I can take the case alone with one strap slung over one shoulder or the other. My gear has never been damaged as long as it was inside the case.

I suggest that you do not purchase a case with only one camera and lens in mind. You may change cameras or get a larger lens, so you might want a case with some dimensional flexibility.
