I was riding home late the other night when I encountered this fellow commuter who appeared to like having her picture taken.

Since I was still trying out my 50mm 1.4 lens I took advantage of the situation.

Sadly, most of the other shots (w/larger aperature) were too blurry.

I now understand the lens reviews that say the 1.4 is a little soft stopped down.

This shot on the other hand was taken with ISO 1600, 1/50, F5.

comments, plus or minus welcome.

Nice capture of a precious child. I'd do a landscape crop to cut out some of the unnecessary real estate at the top and the blue thingie in the foreground then sharpen it a bit. I too find that lens a bit soft wide open.

She was indeed a precious child. I was tempted to ask her mother if she an email address so I could send the pictures to her. I'm still unsure whether that would have been a good idea. Weird times we live in...

Anyway, thanks for the comments. Other opinions of what works and what doesn't work is invaluable. BTW, the blue object in the foreground is the seat back. As you can see from the additional pics below, she first got my attention when she peeked over the seat back.

Cheers

Now that I see the sequence, I too might have cropped the first image the way you did. Yours tells the whole story as you saw it. Too bad the last shot's not on -- it could have been a great photo. Thanks for sharing.

I saw one of your pictures on another thread...Sports, I believe.

Between your avatar and the Spring Training picture, I figure you to be a big baseball fan. I manage to take in a few games at PacBell Park (or SBC Park, now) I'll take my camera this season and if I get lucky and catch a good shot of Barry Bonds, I'll pass it on to you.

Provided of course, you're a fan of Bonds. People around here joke that SBC Park stands for "So, Barry Cheated Park". LOL

Anyway, thanks for sharing your comments.

Thanks nat869.
Here's the last picture cause I can't help myself 8-)

It was among those with the soft focus. With a little USM maybe it will show a little better here.

Big baseball fan might be an understatement -- I live for baseball! We're in Florida where half of the majors conduct Spring Training. I'm a season ticket holder at Atlanta Braves ST. When ST ends the Florida State League (High A minor league teams) come here and use their major league affiliate's ballpark for the season. I love minor league baseball and live within easy driving distance on most of their ballparks. I pretty much live at ballparks from March to September.

I'm not much of a Bonds fan but I'd love to have a picture of him if you get it.
