Polarizing Filter Question

When do you guys and gals use your Polarizing Filter the most? Also, what would the effect be if you were shooting a really orange sunset? I am thinking that I might have it on to cut down on the glare off the water, yet do I need to take it off when the somewhat "magic hour" approaches for my sunset shots?

I use a B&W CPL primarily for landscapes when I want to enhance a blue sky and reduce glare.
