Title says it all -- what lens do you most enjoy using shooting concerts. Also, what lens do you tend to get the sharpest/best results with?

It's nothing special, but so far my tamron 17-50 2.8 has done wonders. I'd like to get a faster lens though, perhaps an 85 1.8.

if the light is good, then i'd say it's the 24-70L for wide, and the 70-200L for tight.

if the light is not so good, it's either the 35L or 135L

i use my sigma 30mm 1.4. i am usually right by the stage, and i find that anything longer than that downt leave me room for any composition.

For wide up close, the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS. To go tight up close, 70-200 f/2.8 IS L. For soundboard use, the 300mm f/2.8 IS L.

The lens most like using is the 17-55...very versatile, sharp across the range and IS can make or break a night.

Sharpest/best results is the 300L. I've cut 3 LCD monitors wide open just opening the RAW files.

sigma 30mm by a large margin.

i'll use the 24-70L occasionally, but it's pretty rare. eventually i'm going to stop being so lazy and bring a tripod to a show, set up in the back of the room and try some stuff with the 135L... i'm not steady enough to handhold that thing at the shutter speeds i usually have to shoot at.

Hard to say... Depends on the music I think. I can shoot whole concerts with my 16-35 on 16-20 mm's, but some other days I don't even touch it because I like my 28-70 or 85mm better.

it all depends on how big the stage is. small stage then my 15mm fisheye is my fave.
big stage and then its def the 24-70 2.8L. Also depends whether im using the 5D or 450D

Most used are the 135 f/2 and 24-70 f/2.8. I like the 135 a lot - it's not always appropriate for the size of the venue, however. Other look-ins include the 85mm 1.8. Depends on the gig, too - something like a hardcore gig will result in much more 24-70 usage given the usually-rapid action whereas something a bit female singer-songwriter-ey will see more 135L usage as they're often more static and have good facial expression.

Mine is the 70-200mm f/2.8L. The 24-70mm f/2.8L also sees a good deal of use.

I've got the 85mm f/1.8, but honestly can't remember the last time I took it to a gig...

Depending on the access.. mostly my 18-50mm f/2.8. The 28-75mm f/2.8 is my bailout when I need just a bit more distance, and now the 11-16mm f/2.8 is starting to become a more frequently used piece of glass (particularly when I know the band, and I know the members will come up close to the camera..)

Most used: 35L - The focal length and speed tend to fit what I normally shoot. I love the FOV and perspective on the 5D.

Favorite: 135L - I use this lens a lot when I shoot larger stages (generally with decent light). The keeper rate and IQ are excellent. I use it as my long lens on the 30D and as a short tele on the 5D.
