vivitar 285hv no fire wirelessly need help!!!

bah, I haven't been on these forums in a while...good to be back
and of course with stupid problems
short story
ordered radio triggers off ebay, they work fine, I am firing a sigma off camera and a vivitar 285hv off camera...the vivitar will not fire...its not a radio problem....
I use the mini pc chord that came with my vivitar to attach it to the trigger...
it just does not fire...
do I need another cable of some sort?
If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it!!

First thing's first. Does the Vivitar fire with the test button? does it fire through the sync port if you short out the terminals on the cable?

yes the vivitar does fire with the test button
when you mean short out the terminals, do you mean when you attach the mini pc chord and take a pen and push it in it fires? if so yes it does

Have you tried firing it from the hotshoe on the receiver..?

You mean connecting the flash via chord to the receiver on my camera's hot shoe?

Check with FlashZebra.com. He has the right cords and good info.

I just got my 285HV in last night and mine works fine with the supplied cord firing from ebay triggers.

I just put a fresh pair of batteries in and gave the mini sync chord an extra little push in...it works! although I think the contact on the flash is a little wiggly, I hope it doesn't fail me on shoots...
