My i950 has been the greatest printer but recently it has started producing a "faded" ~1" band at the end of the photo print. It doesn't matter what size photo I am printing, the faded band is always there. I have always only used Canon ink and Canon paper. I've cleaned the heads and performed an alignment. I've even reloaded the drivers. I'm stumped and I really don't want to toss this printer. Any ideas would be welcomed.

I have been using the i950 for around 2yrs now mainly for photo printing. I usually use Canon Easy Photo print to output 4 x 6x4 on A4 Fuji Paper (I always use Canon Ink). Just recently I too have noticed a single pale band just at the bottom of the A4 sheet (it only happens on A4). The band seems to co-incide with the slowing down of the print head movement just at the end of the process. I too have gone through all the maintenance procedures to no avail. I have an incident logged with Canon but am not sure how cost effective taking the M/c in for service would be (it may be a better option to but a new unit). As a shorterm fix I am printing 2 x 6x4s twice (refeeding the sheet).

It gives some decent hints on how to properly maintain and clean a canon print head which may be of use to you.
