One from last year, with 100% crop. He was actually smiling for the camera.

Nice shot Ken....

Are you sure though? It looks more like a combination of five point harness done up too tight and bumping over a kerb to me

Or, he could just be really pleased to be driving a shiny red Darian :-)

Hah, he either needed to focus more on the driving or was a bit nervous about having a tire in the grass.

I spoke to him afterwards and he said he spotted the big lens pointing at him and thought a smile might be a nice idea. Despite his wanderings off the circuit due to lack of concentration, he won that particular race.

I was going to say maybe that is why he ran off of the road. :D

Nice shot Ken.

I've got a nice shot somewhere taken by a guy at a track day I attended. I was on track, saw him up on the banking so I gave him the finger. It was a great shot barring the vulgarity. :)

Cheers

Great shot!!

I have had several kart racers wave at me. It's one thing on a cool off lap, but when they do it during a race, it freaks me out. I would prefer that as they are going anywhere from 60 - 80 mph with no barrier between us that they keep both hands on the wheel.

Somewhere I have picture of a little kid in a kiddie kart. His head is turned around almost like an owl looking at me. :)

Lordy, lordy... as if motor racing isn't dangerous enough! Now we've got drivers swanning round the track and running off the road whilst grinning inanely at the photographers

If he's got that much time on his hands I reckon he needs to start running in a series where he's going to get some decent competition and force him to pay attention to the job in hand!

Somewhat on the same note, I played this game for Xbox called MotoGP (still one of the best IMO). Anyway, so, as you finished races, you could unlock actual clips/highlights of real races at that specific track. One of the videos showed the first few minutes of a real race. So, we are talkin race level motorcycles on two wheels takin turns at very sharp angles as well as the drivers/riders leaning really hard. During the first copule of minutes as they were gettin started up, one of the guys took his hand off the handlebars, looked at and waved at the camera during a turn.

So, I think you'd be surprised what drivers/riders will do when they see a camera of any kind.
