I've taken the plunge and the new baby arrives tomorrow - imported from Texas. I know that I have to get an adaptor but what sort and where from? I imported because even paying import duty I saved about £200 and got it a bit earlier. Although having been nosing around today I see that 'Berridge' cameras are doing it cheaper. Never mind.
So if anyone can help with that adaptor query i would appreciate it.

Suppose you are living in UK of somewhere use different power plug and votage. You only need to buy the standard power plug that use for regular Sony, Sanyo..... power plug that have 2 round holes at the other end. In HK, my one comes with European, UK, US power plug. And the charger is good for 110-240V.

Thanks for that. I forgot to say I am in the UK!

I am sure there is a Canon dealer in your area that would have the correct plug/adapter...

I have edited the title of this post to attempt to draw the attention of UK users that may be able to help,..

Consider this as you use the forum in the future that a post titled "1DS MkII" does not in any way let poeple know what, if anything you are looking for help with ;) Allways try to title your posts with as much info regarding the question being asked as possible and you will see much better results :)

Hope this helps :)

Wendy,

Your first port of call should be one of the Calumet dealers spread across the UK - they are Canon Pro dealers. If they have a problem contact David Leung, another Canon Pro dealer, whatever he hasn't got or can't get Canon-wise ain't worth bothering about - :-
David Leung, 34 Goodmayes Rd, Ilford, IG3 9UN, UK Tel: 020 8599 6657 Fax: 020 8590 0293. ...
1AE Tel: 020 7837 5649 Fax: 020 7833 4882 Email: sales@theflashcentre.co.uk.

Wendy,

The Canon power adapter (I may wrongly assume you mean the charger here) is universal in that it takes care of the current switching inside.
As another poster stated, you need a simple 2 hole to 13Amp plug cord like the one you might get with a portable stereo or such like.

Sorry, I must be really thick and misunderstanding the question. I thought you'd just have to cut of the US plug and fit a UK one?

You can go into any Maplins and buy a 'figure of eight' cable with 13A plug or do as Cadwell suggested. No big deal and far less complicated/expensive than adapters. I would be more worried about problems with the 1Ds2 as Canon will not give warranty in the UK.

Thanks boys, big help.
I know about the warranty - good excuse for a holiday to USA if it should break down.

Just buy the plug adapter for US to UK. My "Europe" adapter kit cost me all of $19.00 for all of Europe and Far East power. The charger for the camera does the rest automatically. If you can't find them locally, I know they have them at Heathrow.

OK - I now have the adapter and the camera. All I have to do now is learn how to use it!
Having read more reviews it seems that it is more suited to studio work, I hope not as do equestrian event photography!

Thank you all.

I'm sure it'll be fine for equestrian work, but I can't help thinking you would have been better off with the 1D MkII as that is a a much more capable action sport camera (and a lot cheaper).

Anyway, good luck with it and post some shots when you have it all working.

Cheers
