View Full Version : unsafe removal of device - card reader

I use a card reader to transfer pics from my compact flash cards to my PC. Seems like every minute or so, an error dialog box appears with "Unsafe Removal of Device".

This is a pretty annoying problem as I have to keep clicking "OK" each time the error box appears. I am not doing anything strange like pulling the card out or jiggling it.

Has anyone else experienced this? What can I do to fix it?

Thanks.........!

Hi'ya

Just a thought. I sometimes have a problem on my notebook with a CF card reader when I use it on a hub. (I have a 1 into 4 USB hub) For some reason it does not want to share the port with other devices like printers and modems. If I plug it in directly it is a 'happy camper'.

I have had it happen with my Dazzle reader, which says in the (inadequate) help file that it must go directly into the USB port and not a hub (just like most USB devices, so much for using a hub!)

If I don't get it plugged in firmly into the USB port I have gotten that message - that is, if I am lucky as I have also gotten the blue screen of death from accidently jiggling it :( .
