Brookwood Cemetery

[Lester Wareham]

Brookwood Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Britain and is probably the largest in Western Europe. Situated between Woking, Guildford and Aldershot, it is located about 30 miles southwest of London, adjacent to the village of Brookwood. The cemetery was laid out in 1854 as the London Necropolis and has been in constant use ever since.

A great place for a rainy day shoot, not sure about night photography.

I like these shots a lot, nice work. I sometimes wonder why I like cemeteries though??? Often been to Abney Park Cemetery (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abney_Park_Cemetery) in Stoke Newington. Great place for moody shots.

I used to go past it on the train when I worked in London and had been meaning to visit for a long time.

Lots more scope there in terms of parts I have not seen and trying different lighting so I am sure I'll be back soon. It is also quite quiet and peaceful with a faded glory, well worth a visit.

I love this set, though they're rather small pics.
I've been trying to find such a picturesque cemetery near me in the States, but I keep striking out. The best I've found so far was a Greek Orthodox section of a rather large & modern cemetery.

I have yet to see the Greek Orthodox section at Brookwood yet, there are section for all faiths there including Jewish and Muslim that I have yet to see. Lot of scope for the future.
