Caught this hoverfly in between egg-laying sessions on a fir tree - not seen quite such a curvaceous hoverfly before :)

ID'd as Meliscaeva cinctella .

Might be a bit odd but when I saw #1 on the PC for the first time- my first thought was Sophia Loren (showing my age as well) :)

Great shots. I wish my neck was that limber. I find it amazing when they can turn their head backwards like that.

Amazingly done. The lighting and composition are perfect. It looks like it is trying to hide from your camera in the last one. No paparazzi. LOL
