My first visit to this section. Hi guys :). I'll tell you why I'm here. I've just started my second photography course, HNC in Photography & Image Making (UK). One of my first assignments is Architecture orientated. Now, no offence if architecture is your bag :), but it sure isn't mine :o.

In my home city of Liverpool, there has been a lot of development over the last few years, to everything from retail, infrastructure, service industries etc. My brief is to look at the work of other architectural photographers and use this as a catylyst to look at the changing waterfront and other areas of the city which has a long heritage going back hundreds of years, and produce images which contrast and highlight these changes.

Well to be honest, this just leaves me cold . My main subject matter is gig photography, wildlife and people, so I'm struggling to get fired up for this. What I wanted to know from you guys here was if you could point me in the right direction to something that could wet my appetite for architectural photography...............and also, more generally, if you were asked to go and photograph something which you had absolutely no interest in, how would you motivate yourself to get yourself fired up for it?

Thanks in advance guys:)

The genre is fixed: architecture but that doesn't mean you can't keep your own style, so find how you would to architecture on your own style and you should be fine with that. Style depends on your personality so no matter what you are asked to shoot you can always have your personal style.

Be ready for perspective correction if you don't have a tilt&shift lens, that is very important in architecture you really can't accept walls that converge to a point.

Good luck!
