DSLR Speed Challenge #69, Fall, was won by Rtronick, but he was unable to run the next challenge and has deferred the task to me. Hopefully, I will do him proud!

The next challenge, #70, is "Home." This can be whatever you want pertaining to home, or anything which makes you, the photographer, think of home. So go take a picture, or grab one from your archives, which fits the bill!

Photo Submissions:

1. Camera - Any Canon DSLR Camera
2. Time - any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size - Please see the Image posting rules.
4. Post-Processing - do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting - * ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.* Photo Name in the message subject line.* Camera model & lens used.* Notes -- post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
6. Commenting - No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Have FUN!

One challenge every week, on the following schedule:

* New Topic - After winner is declared.

* Posting Ends - 2:00pm EST (eastern) Thursday, October 9, 2008. Winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

Due to the fact that I am going away for a couple days, I will have to end this contest a few hours early-----contest will end at 2:00pm EST, Thursday, instead of 9pm.

Incredible images thus far---keep them coming. I have my work cut out for me!

Wow, what entries. I have been studying the various pictures, and what keeps harkening is:
Chicago, Calling Me Home, by dilorenzo1954. This picture has such amazing color and exposure value throughout the entire scene. I love the thin coat of ice on the waterway in the front of the image, with its mirror-like reflections. Also, I love the crispy white exposure on the two beacons. The ominous cloud cover is quite striking against the brightness below in the front. The lighting here is one you don't come across too often, and when you do, you hope you have your camera. Thanks, Ed, for being on the ready, and congratulations for the win!

2nd place is Montana, by Monty28428. This image is so peaceful, and can feel like home to anybody viewing. The colors are wonderful, as is the crispness in the grasses. The winding path is just so inviting that I find myself wanting to reach the crest of the hill and see what is on the other side----my bet is that is just as beautiful over the hill. Congrats.

Finally, to round out the top three, “Waiting for Me at Home” by Cuypers1847. This is one that any parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle can relate to. It is such a serene portrait, with the gentlest child one can imagine. I love the lighting, which adds to the sereneness. Your choice to go with B&W really fits, and makes this a timeless image that will forever be cherished.

All images are fantastic, and really show many interpretations of home. Each one showed that element beautifully. Thanks, all, for contributing!

Thanks Andrew! You're right, all the planets were aligned when this moment came. I couldn't believe what I was seeing through the viewfinder. It was truly amazing... and it blew over us in just about ten minutes, then started downpouring. Great entries all! I was amazed by the diverse interpretations of the theme. There is a lot of creativity in our community. I will post the next challenge as soon as I get home from work. Congratulations to Monty and Cuypers1847 on their selections too!:D:D
