well i tried something different this game based on my last post and what gavin had talked about. instead of using aperature priority like i normally have i went full manual. i borrowed a light meter from my contact at a local shop and was suprised to see pretty much the entire court to be within a 1/3 of a stop. all the exif data is there but all shots are at iso1600 f/2.2 at 1/500 using the 85mm f/1.8. i also set the wb to 3100k and in a couple shots moved it to 3200k but for the most part left it where they were coming from the camera...any input?

the mustangs won another 5 set thriller and with the victory clinched 2nd in the OUA so it looks like i get to shoot my first playoff action a week from today. i am looking forward to next week as the full crowd should add another level to the competition.

What camera are you using? sorry, sometimes i assume people can read my mind ;) the best bang for your buck DSLR on the market...the 20d, that is of course IMHO.

I figured as much. I'm an avid player and coach and having been wanting a DSLR to shoot volleyball. Most gyms are not very friendly for Point and shoots for fast moving sports like volleyball.

I really wish I would have had my DSLR for when the girls were in-season here, was using my Powershot S1 IS at that point.. :confused:

Now we're in season and I'm starting so I have to let other people use my camera :( which makes me nervous, heh.

thanx for the comments guys, im really starting to get comfortable out there on the court shooting...of course i have a total of maybe 2 games left but i will be ready come volleyball season next year, and there is always the beach in the summer.
