Found this in an old camera bag (the object to the left) on the weekend, any ideas what it is?

I know it is something photographic, as it is braded 'KODAK' and it has the text 'Color Negative Film' most unusual?
I have taken a shot of it next to a CF card as a size comparison.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Heck if I know. Never seen something like that before. Might wanna try to track it down on the web and see what some other people have to say.

Being one of the older members, I recognized that instantly.
It is the disposable filler that came in the handly little platic vials that were so handy for keeping small items in. Typically they had a cap that snapped into place. Earlier versions were metal with a screw cap.
Throw it out. It' serves no purpose.

The "plastic vials" were originally intended for storing illegal drugs. The vials were sold with the "filler" to confuse everybody.

Yep, got that here as well, looks like it might be good for coins or my small screw collection (as in screws of a small size, not a small collection of screws).
Perhaps the 'filler' was marked with Kodak as some sort of advertising gimmick?
Anyway thanks for you help! ;)

Does it tick? It says C-41 on the top, I don't know how it sounds to you, it sounds dangerous to me, I'd rather dispose of it. These days terrists will try anything! :D
Well, that, or it could be a lost piece of art by Warhol or some other deviant. :)

It's a canister of protective film - you pull the film out, much like a roll of tape, and wrap it around your camera for protection. It "negates" probing X-Rays, thus the term "Negative Film".

One of it's may uses is eye pritection when photographing the sun,. you can take some of this "tape" and put it over your cmaeras viewfinder,. in layers to aloow yout look at a solar eclipse... and not go blind.

Hmmm this 'film' is versitile stuff
I am a little concerned about the point that it is marked C-41, as karusel said, could be a new version of C-4?

I believe this antique might fetch a pretty penny on ebay if you list it as "vintage" or "old skool" .

Just an update C-41 is the method it needs to be developed under, and no I've never touched such a thing. *Pats his digital*

We have a Development  . My wife took one look at that, and said she knew exactly what to do with it, a few hours later she came back with some photos from an airshow.
Turns out the cartridge is actually some sort of exchange voucher, she swapped it for some nice airshow shots!

Hey, neat... I wonder what else you can trade them for? Maybe if I found enough of them, I could trade them in for a camera, or a lens? It'd probably have to be something photo related, since it says "Kodak" on it.
Maybe we can order a catalog somewhere that lists prizes and how many of these thingies you need for each.....

yeah - like 'mr. fusion' in 'back to the future'. maybe it's what they use to take photos in the future - like a microdrive, only bigger??
i see it has a little bit of fuzzy bits on the flat part. maybe it's an LCD cleaner!!

Actually it is just the right shape for a stack of 'microdrive type' disk platters, at least 10 of them, so you could get around 40GB into that sucker!
