Ok the situation, I've been asked by a member of my gf family who are getting married to do some photo's at the house before the wedding. i.e of the bride coming down the stairs, getting into the car, around the garden.

This was originally going to be her dad using a P&S, as they didnt want to pay an addional £250 for the wedding photographer to do it. Experience for me so I snapped up the offer.

The equipment I'm using is

eos 350d+battery grip
18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
75-300mm f/ 4-5.6
Nissin Di466+ off camera lead

(am considering a soft focus filter for the dreamy shots)

Any advice you guys can offeR?

Many Thanks In advance

Chris :)

Think composition and posing and well thought out use of available light to best advantage...anyone can be a snapshot photographer!

With digital, it is better to shoot sharp and add the dreamy stuff in Post Processing...she might not like the blurry mess she sees, so you need to be able to reverse it.

Practise with the gf (could be a good laugh) and get the shots you'll want down to a tee so that you don't need to phaff around on the day. Best of luck and post some of the photos when it's done.

Great suggestion practising with the gf. Forget the soft focus filter, it can be done in PS, but you can't get it back if you have it in front of your lens. Use the 18-55, wide open, stay out of the way apart from the posed shots like coming down the stairs etc.

Consider this to be a major test.

...the practice with the GF, not the wedding day!

She really doesn't like photo's of her, she'll just have to put up with it :)
