I am slowly building up my system to better suit my needs, and was looking at a better monitor, but on my starving student budget can only afford a refurbished aperture grill or a brand new shadow mask monitor.

Anybody ever try rebuilt monitors?
Am I looking at trouble with color calibration and lifespan?
