Why does the bike in the background have a bent rim??

Both were taken with the SX100. Unfortunately, I don't have a DSLR.

Why does the bike in the background have a bent rim??
At first, I thought maybe the heat from the flames and gas distorted the look of the tire, but it does look bent. I don't know why it's bent unless it was hit by one of the stunt cars or bikes at some point.

I'm heading out for Disneyland with the family in 2 days. This will be the twins, 4, first time there. Can't wait to see the looks on their faces.

After seeing some of the shots posted here, I am embarassed by the paltry few I took on our last visit there. Clearly, I have to go again with image-making as my primary purpose! (Of course, my two-year old won't appreciate that!)

Can I ask a question? Since some of you out there have been to WDW many times I could use some advice for my trip. We are heading out there in May and I'm in the market for a new lens. I have it narrowed done between the 28-135mm or 17-85mm. I have an XSi with a kit lens but want to expand it for this trip. Also wanting to buy a external flash as well. I know there is a lens section, but I thought it might be appropriate to ask here due to location. Thanks!

My second lens was the 55-250 nifty two fifty....love that lens. Sorry don't know about the two you listed.

Well what do you have now? Not sure that either one that you list is going to any better than the kit lens, assuming it is the 18-55IS. My first time there with a DSLR I had the 18-55IS, the 50 1.8 and the 55-250IS. The 18-55 was on most of the day and the 50 1.8 most of the evening.

thanks bro, and, if I'm not mistaken, I had it on bulb, but don't quote me on that. The fireworks show there is quite long and I actually had time to make adjustments as I was at our hotel room with my tripod.

Good Evening,

My Family and I were at Walt Disney World during Christmas. James Olmos from Miami Vice was the guest reader of the real Christmas Story. I managed to get a couple of shots that were somewhat clear at 400mm.

Thanks, yeah I think the park had closed by this time. The lack of tourists was more due to the downpour minutes before though.

Duane, I need to finish editing my stuff from a trip back in January but I shot Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom,and Epcot with the 85 f1.8 on 99.5% of the time. You'd be amazed at how versatile that is. Check back here in a week or so for some samples or I can PM links to the full galleries. I'll try to post back at least a couple later today but my advice is to not overthink lenses too much. I think the 17-85 and a flash would cover just about everything you'd need there.

I just bought a Canon XS Rebel about 3 weeks ago. I am also a DSLR newbie. I am going to Disney next week. Can anyone help me out and tell what the best settings are to take a pic of the Castle at night changing colors??
Also, since it's probably going to be bright and sunny, what are the best manual settings for the day? Thank you so much!

I have seen and shot hundreds of pictures of the castle, I really enjoyed this perspective and think you did a great job. I am going back in July and have put this angle on my list.

Thanks, yeah I think the park had closed by this time. The lack of tourists was more due to the downpour minutes before though.

Yes, I used my EF-S 10-22 for probably 80% of my shooting while in Walt Disney World. An Ultra Wide lens is essential IMO.

I'll second that, the only time my 10-20 came off was when I needed something faster at night

Great Capture! kinda sucked when I was there because some of the leds on the Fun Wheel where out so it wasnt a complete light circle.

just lag and wait till everyone basically leaves and you're one of the last getting out. Stop and take a quick shot here and there.

If someone approaches you and tells you have to leave cause it's now closed, just say I know just going to take this picture real quick.

Yeah, that's basically it. There are nights where you can stay at the park until 3:00 AM or even later if you want. Worth it though, photography always comes before sleep.
