I like them in an abstract way. Could you share what you did to achieve these shots?

all i did was set the aperture value up to 16 for the first and 29 for the second and turned the flash on. the shutter speeds were something like 1/6 of a second but they appear faster with a slight blur and for the second one, that little shine in the middle because of the longer shutter speed.
Then i just turned the tap on and used my other hand to mess with the water flow so it'd look like that and took the picture with the camera sideways.
I PPed them bit with canon's software too (sharpening and sepia tone etc)

did you use first curtain flash or second? Also, I assume you are referring to the built in flash? (sorry for the questions but I like to absorb how other people create their images, I find it a great learning process)

no problem, asking questions is the best way to learn imo.
i just turned on the built in flash while i had the camera set to Av mode. I honestly don't know what first or second curtain flash is yet >.< sorry. I'm going to guess first curtain though because i didn't change any flash settings. I'm still learning all of the functions of this camera so sorry for not knowing, i hope that info helps though ^.^

Well, let me offer what knowledge I have then.
when your camera takes a picture, the image sensor is exposed by a "cutain" sliding back and forth, and in higher shutter speeds, two curtains.
But to make it simple, first curtain sync flashes the image when the curtain first slides back to expose the image. The second curtain sync flashes the image when the curtain comes back down to complete the image.
The result of first curtain is a flash and then a blur of whatever action happens after that.
The result of second curtain is blur of action and then a flash to freeze the image at the end. Here is a second curtain example. (http://xothermia.com/Bruce/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/SecondCurtain.jpg)
And here is another example (http://www.shortcourses.com/images/b4ch6/curtainsync.jpg). The train is going the same way in both images, but the first was done in first curtain, then second was done in second curtain.
Hope this helps your understanding of those flash settings!

Thanks for the info :-)
Based on that I'm pretty sure the photos were taken on first curtain.
