i just need a show and tell site, to show my work and what services I offer. I idealy I would like clients to view the pics online and be able to choose what they want, rather than printing them, but im not sure how much that runs. I want something more elegant than "graphic design looking" , $500 huh... wow, I just started looking for web designers so i wasnt sure what the going rate is . what does that include. do have any cites i can view than you have done?

EE looks great, and there's also PixelPost http://www.pixelpost.org/ which I know a lot of people use.

500$ is typically cheap/entry level, for a basic HTML/Javascript site , which include some of the minimal graphic works. My partner, who is a flash designer will charge no less than 1,000$ for a flash site, which is static but nicely done.

If you want a show-and-tell site go with sugestions like above, using premade gallery software.

Well if ur looking for a "good" site then its hard to get a good designer. I advise you to take Mike's offer of 500 as that is extremely cheap for a great web designer. For example my rates start at 2000 for a project or 45 dollars an hour, but i do mostly corporate stuff so ur getting a good deal if u can find something under 750.
