I was there as well - very hot and loved the 1hr of traffic getting in!! Still I wouldn't have missed it for the world.
Dave - quick question - did you have exposure compensation turned on? I had read lots about that before going and tried that and got mixed results when I did it.. Or did you just have everything on auto.
Certainly was a day for the big lens etc - I had the Sigma 100-300mm F4 and got a few comments from envious point and shooters nearby but I bet my shoulders were sorer than theirs by the end of the day.

I like the picture of the Maxx-G flying right side down because it looks like the guy on the ground is holding on to a strap and is about to pulled into the sky.

What's the idea behind that? Is it to get the sky exposed better? In my shots the sky was really blown out in half the shots.

Odd that the Hawk is carrying sidewinders but not the Hornet... Maybe they were expecting to be intercepted by MIGs on the way?

In my shots the sky was really blown out in half the shots. Here's probably why: This shows how the subject can affect the exposure & why manual keeps me worry free:
Post #47 (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=5191658&postcount=47)
Try manual in those tough conditions. For a good starting point, first set the f-stop & shutter speed you need for the effect you want. Then the other parameter: f-stop or shutter speed. Then adjust the ISO.
Need an exposure crutch? (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=89123)
