Hello

I am designing an album using a Jorgensen Application, and the album is like one of these coffee table albums, where you can design the layout yourself.

I want the page to have a base image, i.e the church that fills the whole page and then add stronger pictures on top, i guess you all know the kind of thing.

The Jorgensen application does not fade the base picture. Can anyone advise how I can fade an image in PS so that I can use it as a base image without it being too strong for the other pictures.

Thanks

Is using Photoshop, simply reduce the Opacity on the Layer. First you have to double-click on the word "Background" in the layer box and click OK to the New Layer box (which doesn't create a new layer). This will Unlock the background layer so you can modify the opacity.

Next, grab the Opacity slider and reduce it until it looks right. Then Save As a new filename.

Do like Scottes said. But also add another layer beneath your faded "base layer" - all white, black or some color. For what I think you have in mind, you have to fade the image against a background image - a solid color or another image.

Step-by-step: double click the background layer to make it editable; duplicate it so that you have 2 layers; put a fill color on the original background layer. There are several ways to fill a layer with color (e.g., Ctrl or Alt backspace - depending on how your color picker is set up).
