New S45 vs not so new G2

I am stuck between what is new (S45) and small, vs the power of the G2.

I've read your link to your other post and just by looking at your list of things you need the only thing the G2 falls short on is being compact as opposed to the s45.
Personally the G2 is the camera I'm hoping to get. I like the SLR style and the adaptability of lenses. As I've also seen in this forum is the G2 is second to none when it comes to macro shots.
I don't know if $800 plus dollars U.S. is such a great deal on the S45. The G2 is currenly going for $1089.00 Cdn and the G3 about $1299.00.
If you still have a struggle going on may I suggest you buy from a store that has a 30 day return policy. You can always return it and try another.
