I like the shot. I'm no expert by any means but the picture could benefit from lighting that provides more contrast front to back.

Perhaps it's just my monitor but the skin tones seem a little flat as well. Something tells me your child has rosy cheeks and they don't "pop", as I've read described in photo editing books/articles.

Lastly, is there anyway to get a few hair highlights?

But don't get me wrong, I'd proudly put a picture like this in a frame.

Thanks. Yes, it does seem kind of flat the more I look at it.
Since I did the shot in RAW, maybe I can improve it once I get better at PS.

I think the lighting is nice on her face but the white backdrop so close behind her spoils it a little. Also seems pretty soft and colours too pink?
