With my new G10, jpeg files are 6-7MB, and RAW files are 16-17MB, and take a long time to download.

What size do you guys set your files to (small, med, large)?

Thank you

With memory being so cheap and plentiful, I keep my cameras set to maximum size & quality. Download's not really an issue for me with a USB card reader.

Raw

Memory is cheap, I'd hate to have that once in a life time shot come up and the camera is set on something other than the best the it will put out.

RAW and two 4GB cards, the only thing I don't like the the processing of the RAW files because CS2 can't read .cr2 files

If you are using a card reader, be sure it is a USB 2.0 card reader. I have an old v1.1 reader and it is super slow! My 2.0 card reader moves files way faster.

Superfine and large for snapshots and RAW for the rest. As stated by the rest memory truly is cheap compared to the loss of quality.

What do you mean? Sure you have to update the ACR, but my CS2 opens cr2 files without problems. But those are from a 40D.. is G9 that diffefent?

Hello Marc;

How are you downloading?

The G10 RAWs are only slightly larger than the G9s - but they download quick enough - either via the USB cable, or using a media-reader...

And to add my vote - Large/Superfine JPEG + RAW... I use 2 x 4Gb cards for the G9, and have 2 "old" 1Gb cards as back-ups...

ACR for PhotoShop Elements reads the G9 CR2 RAWs AOK - so I would guess that ACR for CS2 MUST be able to do so...

Download the update...

For my G9, I've never used anything but superfine/large, although lately I've started using RAW, as I think it's time to start expanding my horizons a little more. I have 3 2G cards in the bag at all times, along with 2-3 charged batteries.
